Connecting public, philanthropic and private capital with projects that protect and restore nature. We design the financial mechanisms and prepare the projects, so that every investment delivers tangible impact on the ground.
Rio Impact is a consultancy established in Luxembourg and Mauritius. Our work includes:
Financing solutions for biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration and climate action: financial vehicles, carbon finance and biodiversity credits, investment readiness, and the mobilisation of public and private finance.
Policies and strategies that create the enabling conditions for investment, harnessing synergies across the Rio Conventions on biodiversity (CBD), land (UNCCD) and climate (UNFCCC): financing strategies, investment frameworks and pipelines of bankable projects.
Preparing projects and local actors for investment: integrated projects built on a landscape approach, local intermediaries that make them investable, and training to strengthen their capacities.

Financing solutions and fundraising
We design and support the capitalisation of conservation trust funds, national funds, blended finance facilities and impact funds. We prepare projects for investment and mobilise public and private finance: the Green Climate Fund, the Global Environment Facility, the Adaptation Fund, private foundations, impact investors and development finance institutions.

Carbon and nature markets
We support nature-based solutions projects under standards such as Plan Vivo, Verra, Gold Standard and Equitable Earth, from feasibility through to market. These high-integrity credits deliver benefits that are shared fairly with local territories. We also support the development of biodiversity credits.
Nature Positive Business, Value Chains & Finance
In line with the TNFD, SBTN and CSRD frameworks, we support companies, financial institutions and investors in integrating nature- and climate-related issues into their strategies, operations, portfolios and supply chains, turning risks and dependencies into opportunities for value creation and positive impact.

We train project developers, local funds, financial institutions, public administrations and NGOs in financing solutions for nature and climate.
Our programmes cover the full spectrum of mechanisms: conservation trust funds, blended finance, carbon and biodiversity credits, payments for ecosystem services and the mobilisation of global funds. They take the form of tailor-made training (online, in person or hybrid), thematic series and webinars.
Our trainings draw on real-world cases and practical tools, empowering changemakers to drive lasting transformation.
