This project focused on analysing and assessing national forest financing strategies across seven countries: Brazil, Cameroon, Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mongolia, Morocco and Uganda. The assignment aimed to identify financing opportunities, investment needs and mechanisms capable of strengthening forest conservation and sustainable forest management across diverse national contexts.

Key tasks included:
• Conducting an in-depth assessment of forest financing landscapes in the seven target countries.
• Identifying existing financial flows, financing gaps and priority investment needs.
• Reviewing national policies and frameworks related to forest conservation and climate finance.
• Facilitating consultations with government institutions, development partners, civil society organisations and other key stakeholders.
• Developing country-specific recommendations and comparative policy insights across the seven countries.

Results: The project provided a comprehensive understanding of forest financing mechanisms and the barriers affecting investment in the forestry sector. The resulting analyses and recommendations supported the development of more effective financing strategies, strengthened alignment between forest and climate policies, and enhanced opportunities to mobilise resources for the conservation and sustainable management of forest ecosystems.
